About the Author

Reflections, observations, stories, and occasional quotations  by Gary Borjesson—college teacher (PhD, philosophy), writer, perennial student of diverse subjects (including myself), and idle speculator.

Readers will notice that I break a cardinal rule of blogging, which is that you should focus on one theme. Such a rule may make it easier to target an audience, but it’s anti-philosophical! In any event, if there’s one theme binding all my posts, it is that I think they will be of interest to the curious reader.  I hope you enjoy the variety.

My book, Willing Dogs & Reluctant Masters: On Friendship and Dogs, has recently been published by Paul Dry Books. The book focuses on our relations with dogs as a way to reflect on the psychology and the art of friendship generally. It encourages readers to wonder anew about how friendships enrich our lives.  You can learn more about the book here.

Greetings from Idaho, Gary. Picked up your book at Martha and Leighton’s on our visit at Christmas this year. Wonderful read. Truly insightful, well-researched, gorgeous prose. Probably not going to appeal to the masses, but I would not call that a failure. Hoping you and Cindy are enjoying your new life in Oregon!

I have to say I quite like that you’ve broken that rule (I kind of have too) and have so far really enjoyed your blog!
